In this Pizza Bros special feature, our ace local reporter, Elliott Daily, investigates what different restaurants are doing in Chesterwood to help combat the spread of Covid-19. This special investigation focuses on Pizza Bros.
The inspiration for this comedic chapter of Pizza Bros comes from real life… DUH! LOL! We wanted to imagine how some of the pixel art characters would react to the pandemic if they were real. So that’s how we wrote it. At the time of writing this, we didn’t think the pandemic would go as long as it has. Everyone is taking everything sooooo seriously that we just wanted to make fun of it to lighten the mood.
Difficulties
This is one of the first Pizza Bros chapters with a lot of motion in it. Throwing a pepperoncini and squirting a squirt bottle in pixel art, required some creative thought.
Comedy Writing and Pixel Art Coming Together
The pandemic is real. It’s obviously happening. And everyone is so busy being either terrified or angry these days, that we felt making this special covid-19 episode, making fun of everything, would help ease tensions. Comics and videos games are so often focused on the heroic or the fantasy that it’s nice to be able to use the pixel art to point out the absurdity of reality.
Most Fun to Create
The most fun to create was literally the entire episode. We wrote and illustrated this entire Pizza Bros chapter on a whim and threw it together in like 2 hours.
