The inspiration for this Pizza Bros episode came from having to deal with a frustrating automated customer service line in real life. We thought this would be a great opportunity to make fun of these by showing how it would be implemented in a pizza delivery restaurant. The truth is that it winds up costing corporate more money and time than it saves them at Pizza Bros.
Difficulties
This episode was pretty easy to illustrate, however the most difficult part of the story to convey is when Steve called into the Pizza Bros store and gets the new automated system. We wanted to try to convey that it was The Founder and Ed’s voice on the automated system, so we illustrated their faces next to the phone system response. Making sure we got that idea across was the most difficult part of this episode.
Comedy Writing and Pixel Art Coming Together
We think the funniest part of this Pizza Bros episode is when The Founder demands to be the voice of the automated system. It really speaks to his character that HE has to be the person that all the customers hear and respond to.
Most Fun to Create
The most fun to create was Steve calling into the Pizza Bros store. The build up of the sequence of events and dialogue was hilarious.
