The inspiration for this story line is that there are bicyclists that ride on the road EVERYWHERE where we live. As delivery drivers, they become your enemy. They jump out in the middle of the road. They don’t always obey traffic signs. They generally do whatever they want to do with out regard to you having to stop a 2 ton vehicle. We wanted to use bicycles as our first bad guy, which is where the idea for Cycle Pizza comes from.
Difficulties
Imagining a person, riding a bicycle in an 8 bit pixel art style with limited pixels was the most difficult to create artistically. In this Pizza Bros chapter, we are still learning how to even make this comic.
Comedy Writing and Pixel Art Coming Together
Steve trying to back out of a parking spot in a really busy parking lot is a funny scene for us. The restaurant we worked at was in a really busy shopping plaza. Coming in and out of the parking lot was a life or death battle. We wanted to capture the frustration of the situation in the beginning of this chapter.
Most Fun to Create
The ending scene where Steve gets covered in pizza was the most fun to create. We imagined loud dramatic music and lava temperature cheese and sauce splashing all over. We really wanted to capture Steve’s misery with the simple phrase, “I don’t think I’m going to like Cycle pizza.”
