It’s a slow Friday night and the Pizza Bros drivers want to get sent home early. Ed comes up with a new MUSICAL challenge to see who gets to go home first!
The inspiration for this Pizza Bros episode came while we were watching re-runs of M.A.S.H. When we saw this particular episode of M.A.S.H, it reminded us of working in the trenches at a restaurant. So, we decided to work in the song, “Gee ma, I wanna go Home” into a Pizza Bros episode on a slow delivery night where everyone starts complaining that they want to go home!
Difficulties
The most difficult to illustrate using pixel art was the fact that everyone was singing. To convey singing to the reader, we decided to use a game show setting and include pixel art musical notes.
Comedy Writing and Pixel Art Coming Together
OMG. Turning Ed into an old fashioned game show host was soooooo fun to write and illustrate. Giving Ed a 1970’s game show suit and a comb-over is about the funniest thing we have done to date. We laughed sooooooooo hard the entire time while illustrating this using pixel art.
Most Fun to Create
The most fun to create was the singing part. Coming up with funny rhymes that the characters would sing about their fellow co-workers was hilarious. We put ourselves into each character’s shoes in order to write what that particular person would sing about and how they would sing it.
